Will their be Guest Parking in Heaven?

Have you ever been to a store or a restaurant that has parking spaces for employees of the month. The rest of the parking spaces are for guest of that store or restaurant. But the designated spots are for somebody. It’s just like in Heaven, Christians will have their own parking spot (if we drive cars) in Heaven.

The Problem

In the beginning, God created everything we see around us, but Adam and Eve ruined it for the whole world by eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. Because of Adam and Eve’s sin, God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden and every person born into this world since then has been separated from God.

But God, in His love and mercy, chose to make a way for us through His Son Jesus. Jesus says in John 14:6, that He is the Way the Truth and the Life, No one comes to the Father except through Him. So that tells me that we can do nothing on our own to get to God. We can’t give enough money, volunteer enough, or do enough good works to get us to heaven. Now, I know in our day and time that is not a politically correct statement, but it’s the truth.

What did Jesus free us from

The three things Jesus frees us from are:

  • Jesus frees us from death
  • Jesus frees us from fear
  • Jesus frees us from sin

Why did Jesus free us from these three things? First, we were lost in our sin, separated from God the Father for ever. It says in Romans 8:1-2, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” If Jesus did not die for us, we would have spent eternity in Hell. But Jesus paid the price for us so we can stand before God, the Father, as a spotless lamb. Second, Jesus freed us from fear. It says in John 8:36, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” We all have fears in our life, Christians and non-Christians alike. Fear is like carrying a backpack of rocks around. Fear does nothing for us, it only holds us back from our true potential. Like it said in John 8:36, if you are a Christian, you are free because Jesus paid the cost, so leave the backpack behind and live a life free of fear. Check out our post, How to overcome Fear with Faith to learn more. Third, Jesus freed us from our sin. No that doesn’t mean that we won’t ever sin again, it just means we are no longer a slave to sin any longer. If you are a Christian and the devil tempts you, you have the freedom in Jesus to says “no.” Our sin does not condemn us any longer.

The Answer

So the answer to the question, will there be guest parking spots in Heaven? I do not believe there will be guest parking in Heaven. The only parking spots in Heaven will be for the people that have trusted Jesus as their savior. You need to be saved in order to have your own parking sport in Heaven. Because Jesus said it very plainly in Romans 10:13, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Please don’t think that you can get saved at a later time, we are never promised tomorrow. When you die that’s it, there are no second changes or do overs. At the judgment seat of Christ, you will stand condemned in your own sins and spend an eternity in Hell.

  1. I love this Title! It’s very catchy and I think your interpretation of the scriptures is dead accurate.

I do not believe in ‘works based salvation’ and I agree that it doesn’t matter how many ‘good’ things we do, we need Jesus to earn our parking spot!

Keep encouraging others! You’re an inspiration!

    1. Thank you Kayla for the great comment. What you said is very true, we can only get to God through Jesus, nothing else will do.

  2. Great article! The title really caught my attention. I didn’t really know what to expect, except that it would be an interesting article.

I totally agree with you. The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. There is no way to work hard enough or be “good” enough. God set high standards and knew that we would not be able to fulfill them on our own. So, thankfully, He gave us His one and only Son to make a way for us. Like you quoted from scripture, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the way to the Father, the truth/light of the world, and life for us all.

Thank you for spreading the good Word!
