Are you ready to stop living in fear? Last week I discussed about whom do you fear. This week I want to talk about how to overcome fear. In Psalms 46:1-2 it says, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” These verses say that God is our strength. You need to remember that God is the strength of your life, nothing else will do.
He is your refuge too, when life is not going right, ran to Him and pray to Him; not things of the earth. The second part of that verse means that even if the mountains would be thrown into the sea, God is still there. But fear and the devil say to us, God is not there, He left you. Don’t believe that lie, because it’s not true.
Psalms 91:2 says, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” This verse says that God is our strength and our protection. Do you remember the old forts that they used to built to defend colonies? The fortress’ were made out of steel and concrete, that meant they were secure. Like those fortress’ were used to protect a colony, God is the fortress for your life. Since God is our fortress, we don’t have to fear.
How to overcome fear
How do you overcome fear, you overcome fear with faith. But first you need two things, you need to be a believer and you need to have faith that Jesus will do what He says He will do. Your faith in God is the key to everything you do, even overcoming fear. Jesus said, that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain. Move from here to there and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you.
To do this you need to realize you have to have God as your true anchor, nothing else will do. God has everything under control in your life, you have nothing to fear. You need to remember that God is your refuge in times of trouble.
I would like to leave you with one more verse. In Genesis 28:15 it says, “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.” Whatever you are going through, no matter how big or small, Jesus is with you every step of the way. Jesus says that He will not leave us until He is finished with us. Remember that thought the next time the devil comes a knocking saying Jesus has left you.
